Finding Your First Mineral Vein

Locate Deposits Underground

Mineral veins in Immersive Geology are large, concentrated deposits scattered throughout the world. Unlike vanilla ore, they spawn in realistic geological layers and require proper tools to find efficiently.

How to Search

Craft a Geologist Pick or Metal Detector using materials from your starting resources. The Geologist Pick lets you identify ore types when you break blocks, while the Metal Detector points you toward nearby deposits when held.

Descend into caves or dig down to mid-range depths. Veins typically form in bands, so once you find one ore type, search the surrounding area for connected deposits. Look for visual clustering of similar stone types—hematite and magnetite often appear together.

What to Expect

Early veins contain iron-rich ores like hematite and magnetite. These are your gateway to the Bloomery and basic metal production. Deeper exploration yields tin, copper, and eventually rarer materials like titanium and platinum.

Consult your Engineer's Manual (crafted early game) for exact depth ranges and biome preferences. The manual updates as you discover new ore types, helping you plan deeper expeditions.
