Extracting Mantle Materials with the Core Drill

Reach the Deep Game

The Core Drill accesses the planetary mantle far below normal mining depths, yielding rare materials like titanium and platinum. This is a late-game structure requiring significant preparation and power.

Build and Power the Core Drill

Construct the Core Drill multiblock at your chosen location. It demands substantial continuous electrical power—ensure your Steam Turbine or power grid can sustain it. The drill operates slowly but produces molten raw materials that flow into collection tanks.

Process Mantle Output

Molten mantle cannot be used directly. Route it into a Reverberation Furnace or similar heat-handling multiblock to separate it into usable ores and byproducts. Captured gases (like sulfur dioxide) become feedstock for the Chemical Reactor, enabling advanced refinement chains.

Strategic Placement

Position your Core Drill near your power generation and processing infrastructure to minimize transport distances. A single Core Drill supplies enormous quantities of rare materials, so plan your refining capacity accordingly. This unlocks access to endgame metals needed for specialized tools and advanced machinery.
