Building and Operating Your First Bloomery

Construct the Multiblock

The Bloomery is your earliest smelting solution, requiring no electricity or complex wiring. Gather the materials listed in your Engineer's Manual and assemble the multiblock structure carefully—each block must be placed in the exact configuration shown.

Operating the Bloomery

Once built, insert crushed ore and fuel (charcoal or coke work well) into the designated input slots. The Bloomery heats gradually and produces molten metal that collects in a basin below. You can extract ingots once the process completes.

Why Use It Early

The Bloomery bridges the gap between raw ore and advanced machinery. It requires no power grid, making it perfect for establishing your first metal supply before building Steam Turbines or Geothermal Exchangers. Early game progression depends on producing enough ingots to craft better tools and multiblock components.

Keep your Bloomery fed with ore and fuel to maintain steady production. Once you've accumulated sufficient materials and power infrastructure, transition to larger furnaces like the Reverberation Furnace for higher throughput.
