How to Craft and Use the Bestiary and Bestiary Lectern

Craft the Bestiary

Craft a Bestiary using the crafting recipe for the item. It is a handheld book that records the creatures you encounter. Carry it in your inventory at all times — entries are added automatically as you meet new species, including dragons, hippogryphs, cockatrices, and myrmex.

Place a Bestiary Lectern

Craft a Bestiary Lectern and place it in your base. Right-click the lectern with a Bestiary to store the book inside. The lectern then displays entries to any player who interacts with it, so a shared base can pool discovery data without everyone carrying their own copy.

What It Records

Entries cover dragons (fire, ice, lightning), hippogryphs, cockatrices, sea serpents, pixies, and myrmex. Reading an entry tells you the creature's biome, behavior, and drops — for example, that dragons drop Block of Dragon Scales and Block of Dragon Bones, and that cockatrices drop Cockatrice Eye and Cockatrice Skull.

Practical Use

Before hunting a dragon, check the Bestiary for its element and habitat. Before taming a hippogryph, confirm the biome. The lectern is the fastest way to onboard a new player on a server: point them at it and they get the full discovered list without you explaining each creature.
