Enable and Control Bloom Effects Around Light Sources

Locate Bloom Settings

Open your shader configuration menu and search for bloom, glow, or light bloom options. These controls determine how much light radiates outward from bright blocks like torches, glowstone, and lava.

Adjust Bloom Intensity

Increase the bloom slider to make light sources glow more prominently and spread further into surrounding darkness. This creates a softer, more atmospheric lighting effect. Decrease it for a cleaner, more subtle look.

Balance Bloom with Performance

Bloom effects can impact frame rate on lower-end systems. If you notice stuttering, reduce bloom intensity or disable bloom radius expansion. You can keep the glow effect visible while reducing the computational cost.

Test in Different Lighting

Place torches or glowstone in various locations—caves, indoor rooms, and open areas—to see how bloom interacts with your environment. Adjust until the lighting feels natural and enhances readability without creating harsh glare or washing out details.
