Adjust Shadow Intensity and Darkness

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the key bound to shader settings (usually accessed through your video settings or a dedicated shader menu). Look for shadow-related sliders.

Customize Shadow Depth

Locate the shadow intensity or shadow distance slider. Increasing this value makes shadows darker and more pronounced under trees, terrain, and structures. Decreasing it creates lighter, softer shadows that are less dramatic.

If your setup struggles with performance, reduce shadow quality or distance first before adjusting intensity—this keeps the visual effect while maintaining frame rate.

Fine-Tune Block Shadows

Many shader packs include separate controls for block shadow darkness versus terrain shadow darkness. Adjust these independently to balance how shadows appear under individual blocks (like stairs or slabs) versus large landscape features.

Test your changes by standing in shaded areas under trees or near tall structures. Shadows should feel natural and not too harsh or too faint. Save your preferred settings so they persist across sessions.
