Optimize Night Vision Without Losing Atmosphere

Locate Night Brightness Controls

Enter the shader configuration menu and find the night-time or ambient lighting section. Horizon offers controls for how bright your world appears after sunset.

Balance Visibility and Mood

If nights are too dark and you're constantly using torches or night vision potions, increase the night brightness slider slightly. This lifts the overall ambient light without washing out the nighttime feel. If nights feel washed out and lose their atmospheric quality, reduce brightness to restore contrast.

Adjust Color Temperature

Many shader packs include a color tone slider for night scenes. Cooler tones (blue) create a moonlit feeling, while warmer tones (orange/yellow) suggest firelight or a different moon color. Experiment with this alongside brightness to find your preferred nighttime aesthetic.

Validate in Different Biomes

Test your settings in open areas, forests, and underground. Different environments respond differently to lighting changes, so ensure your night adjustments feel right across varied terrain.
