Adjust Shadow Intensity for Your Playstyle

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls settings). Look for the Horizon shader pack in your active shaders list and select its configuration panel.

Fine-Tune Shadow Darkness

Locate the shadow-related sliders in the settings menu. You'll find options to control how dark shadows appear on blocks during daytime. If shadows feel too harsh and make caves or overhangs hard to see, reduce the shadow intensity slider. If you want more dramatic contrast and deeper shadows for atmosphere, increase it.

Test Your Changes

Apply settings and move to an area with mixed sunlight and shade—near trees, cliffs, or buildings work well. Walk between sunny and shadowed spots to see how your adjustment feels during actual gameplay. Shadows should enhance depth without making it difficult to spot resources or navigate.

Remember that shadow settings interact with your monitor's brightness, so if the result feels off, also check your display settings before making further adjustments.
