How to Craft a Wooden Hook

Gather the Materials

You need planks and sticks. Any plank type works, and sticks come from crafting two planks vertically. Keep both in your inventory before opening the crafting grid.

Craft the Wooden Hook

Open a crafting table and arrange the recipe in a shaped pattern. The Wooden Hook is the entry point of the Hooked Mod progression, so craft it first before attempting any of the metal variants. Once crafted, it appears in your inventory as a single item.

Use It as Your Starting Hook

Equip the Wooden Hook in your main hand. It is the cheapest hook in the mod and the one you should make before spending iron, redstone, ender pearls, or diamonds on the higher tiers. Because every other hook requires more valuable materials, the Wooden Hook is your test item — use it to learn how hooks behave in your world before upgrading.

Plan Your Upgrade Path

The progression runs Wooden Hook → Iron Hook → Redstone Hook → Ender Hook → Diamond Hook. Each step uses the previous tier's material theme, so once you have a Wooden Hook working, gather iron next. Do not skip straight to Diamond Hook unless you already have diamonds and the intermediate materials on hand, since the shaped recipes still require the lower-tier components.
