Optimize Shader Performance for Your Hardware
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Enable the frame rate counter (usually F3 key or shader menu option) to monitor your FPS. Run the shader in different environments—open sky, dense forest, underground—to see where performance dips most significantly.
Scale Visual Features
Start by reducing the most demanding features: volumetric lighting quality, water reflection resolution, and shadow map resolution. These settings have the biggest impact on frame rate. Disable advanced features like ambient occlusion or parallax mapping if needed.
Reduce render distance slightly if you're still experiencing lag—this helps more than shader adjustments alone.
Find Your Balance
The shader is designed to stay smooth, so you have flexibility. Disable features you don't notice much (like subtle color grading) before cutting features you do enjoy. Test gameplay in survival mode—what looks good in a still screenshot might feel different while moving and building.
Keep adjusting until you reach stable FPS during normal play while maintaining the visual improvements you wanted from the shader.
