Enhance Sunbeams and Volumetric Lighting

Locate Lighting Options

Open the shader settings menu and find the section for volumetric effects, god rays, or sunbeams. This shader includes dedicated controls for how light rays appear when the sun shines through clouds or terrain.

Customize Sunbeam Intensity

Adjust the volumetric light strength to make sunbeams more or less prominent. Higher values create dramatic, visible light rays piercing through the sky and clouds. Lower values produce subtle, natural-looking lighting without overwhelming the scene.

You can also control the density and spread of these beams—denser settings create tighter, more defined rays, while lower density spreads light more diffusely across the sky.

Optimize for Performance

Volumetric effects are visually impressive but can impact frame rates. If you experience stuttering, reduce the sample count or resolution of volumetric lighting rather than disabling it entirely. This maintains the atmospheric effect while keeping gameplay smooth. Test during different times of day—sunrise and sunset typically show sunbeams most dramatically.
