Customize Shadow Behavior and Darkness

Find Shadow Settings

In the shader options, locate the shadow or lighting section. This shader allows you to control how shadows fall across blocks as the sun moves, affecting the overall brightness and contrast of your world.

Adjust Shadow Intensity and Softness

Increase shadow strength to make dark areas more pronounced and create stronger contrast between lit and unlit blocks. Reduce it for a brighter, more evenly-lit world. Shadow softness controls the edge quality—softer shadows blend naturally, while harder shadows create sharper transitions.

You can also adjust ambient lighting, which affects how bright shadowed areas remain. Higher ambient values prevent caves and overhangs from becoming too dark, while lower values create more dramatic lighting contrasts.

Balance Visibility and Atmosphere

Test your shadow settings in different biomes and times of day. Forests and caves show shadow effects most clearly. If shadows make navigation difficult, increase ambient lighting or reduce shadow strength. The goal is atmospheric lighting that doesn't compromise gameplay visibility.
