Optimize Shader Performance on Low-End Hardware

Check Current Frame Rate

Launch your world and open the debug display (F3) to see your current FPS. This baseline helps you understand if optimization is necessary.

Reduce Lighting Detail

Access shader settings and lower the shadow or lighting smoothness level. HighFramesExtra Shaders allows you to dial back the intensity of light and shadow softening—this is one of the most impactful performance adjustments available.

Disable or Lower Reflections

If frame rate is still unstable, reduce water reflection quality or disable reflections entirely. You can toggle this on and off without restarting your game.

Adjust Sky Processing

Lower the sky enhancement setting if available. The shader's sky tone improvements can be scaled back to free up GPU resources on potato computers.

Monitor Results

After each adjustment, spend a few minutes exploring different biomes and times of day. Watch your FPS counter to ensure stability across varied lighting conditions. The goal is smooth, consistent frame rates while keeping the visual upgrades you want.
