Altars, Brooms, and Couriers: Setting Up Utility Blocks

Choose and place an altar

Craft an Altar, or one of the wood variants — Willow Altar or Witch Hazel Altar. Place it in an open area with clear space around it, since you will interact with it directly. Keep your Book of Shadows nearby when you first set it up so you can check what the altar expects.

Store your broom properly

A Mahogany Broom Stand, Willow Broom Stand, or Witch Hazel Broom Stand gives your broom a dedicated resting place instead of leaving it in a chest. Place the stand next to your altar so your broom is always within reach when you are working in that area. Use the Broom Whistle when you need to call your broom to you rather than walking back for it.

Set up courier delivery

Place a Mahogany Courier Depot, Willow Courier Depot, or Witch Hazel Courier Depot to handle deliveries. Use Courier Letter and Courier Package to send items through the system. This is the practical way to move goods between two distant parts of a large base without carrying them yourself.

Round out the utility kit

Craft a Dowsing Rod for locating things in the world, a Crow Flute for interacting with crows, and a Sage Bundle for use at your stations. Keep a Book of Colors on hand if you are working with dyes — the Crow Flute accepts dye recipes, so dyeing it is part of the normal workflow.
