Using the Device Recipe System for Processing

What Device Recipes Do

The mod's largest recipe category is dcs_climate:device_recipe, with 631 entries. These are recipes performed by machines or devices rather than at a crafting table. If a recipe will not appear in your normal crafting grid, it is likely a device recipe and needs the appropriate device placed in the world.

Related Processing Types

Alongside device recipes, the mod uses dcs_climate:climate_smelting (73 entries). This is a smelting-style process tied to the mod's climate system rather than a vanilla furnace. Standard smelting (34) and blasting (20) recipes also exist, so some materials can be processed either the vanilla way or through climate smelting.

Smaller categories include campfire_cooking (14) and smoking (2), which cover food preparation.

Practical Workflow

When you cannot craft something directly:

  • Check whether it is a device recipe. If so, build and place the required device, then insert the inputs.
  • Check whether it is a climate smelting recipe. These depend on the environment around the device, so placement matters.
  • Fall back to smelting or blasting only for items that list those recipes.

For bulk processing, set up your device next to a Build/Cabinet Normal or colored Build/Cabinet so inputs and outputs stay organized. Keep a separate chest for raw materials and one for finished goods, and feed the device in batches rather than one item at a time.
