Optimize Hearthlight Shaders for Low-End Computers
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated shader settings key (usually accessed through your graphics settings or mod menu). Look for performance-related toggles.
Reduce Visual Effects
Disable or lower the following features to improve frame rates:
- Bloom intensity: Reduce the glow around light sources and morning skies
- Shadow quality: Lower shadow resolution or distance to decrease processing load
- Waving effects: Disable or minimize the leaf and grass animation intensity
Adjust Lighting Complexity
If frame drops persist, simplify the lighting system by reducing the number of dynamic light sources the shader processes. This won't remove warm lighting from torches and lanterns—it just makes the calculations less demanding.
Monitor Performance
Enable the FPS counter to see real-time impact. Test changes in different environments: caves (heavy shadow processing), forests (many waving plants), and open areas (bloom effects).
Start by disabling bloom, then waving effects, then shadow quality until you reach your target frame rate. Most low-end systems can maintain playable performance with at least one visual feature enabled.
