Reduce Screen Degradation When Exploring Deep Caves

Understanding Underground Degradation

The longer you spend in deep underground caverns, Haunted Cinematic Glow intentionally distorts and degrades your screen visuals to build tension. This effect intensifies the deeper you go and the longer you stay below the surface.

Managing the Effect

Take regular surface breaks. Exit to daylight or higher elevations to reset the degradation counter. Even brief trips above ground will clear the visual distortion and restore clarity to your screen.

Plan your mining routes. Instead of spending hours in one deep cavern, break your exploration into shorter sessions with surface intervals between them. This lets you gather resources while keeping the horror atmosphere manageable.

Use well-lit areas as checkpoints. Create temporary bases or rest areas in caverns with torches and glowstone. Staying near bright light sources may slow the degradation effect, though the flickering torches will still create an unsettling mood.

Accept the atmosphere. The degradation is intentional—it's part of the mod's survival horror design. If the effect becomes too intense, consider taking a break rather than fighting the mechanic.
