Deal with Flickering Torches and Unstable Light

Torch Behavior in This Shader

Torches in Haunted Cinematic Glow emit unstable, unpredictable flickering light. This creates dark corners and shadows even in torched rooms, making caves feel genuinely unsafe.

Lighting Solutions

Use multiple light sources. Place torches densely and in overlapping patterns. Since individual torches flicker and dim unpredictably, clustering them ensures at least some light reaches every corner.

Combine torch types. Mix torches with other light blocks like glowstone, lanterns, or soul lanterns. Different light sources flicker at different rates, creating more consistent overall illumination than torches alone.

Accept the shadows. The flickering is intentional—it's core to the mod's horror atmosphere. Dark corners and shifting shadows are features, not bugs. Embrace the tension they create.

Light your base perimeter heavily. Around your main base, use dense torch placement and supplementary light blocks. This creates a safer zone while the surrounding wilderness remains ominously dim.

Avoid relying on torches in deep caves. For critical underground routes, prioritize glowstone or other stable light sources over torches alone.
