Troubleshoot Color Banding or Washed-Out Visuals

Identify the Problem

Color banding appears as visible stripes or blocks of solid color in gradients (like skies or water). A washed-out look means colors feel dull or desaturated. Both issues can occur with shader packs on low-end hardware.

Adjust Dithering and Saturation

In Shader Options, check for a dithering toggle—this reduces banding by adding subtle noise. Enable it if available. Next, increase color saturation slightly to counteract washed-out visuals. Small increases (5-10%) often fix this without looking unnatural.

Check Your Video Settings

Ensure your Minecraft Video Settings aren't already reducing color depth. Set Mipmap Levels to at least 2, and confirm Biome Blend is enabled—these improve color smoothness.

Reset and Reconfigure

If problems persist, reset Haste Shaders to defaults and reapply changes one at a time. Sometimes conflicting adjustments compound visual issues. Document which settings you change so you can identify the culprit.
