Reduce Lag While Keeping Visual Quality
Disable Optional Effects
Haste's design prioritizes performance, but some visual features can be toggled. Open Shader Options and look for toggles related to ambient occlusion, shadows, or bloom effects. Disabling these will free up GPU resources.
Lower Render Distance Alongside Shaders
Even with Haste's optimization, render distance affects frame rate. If you're still experiencing lag, reduce your render distance in Video Settings. Start at 8-12 chunks and increase gradually until you notice stuttering.
Monitor Performance
Enable the F3 debug screen (press F3) to watch your frame rate in real-time. Make one change at a time—either a shader setting or render distance—then observe the impact for 30 seconds before adjusting further.
If you're still dropping frames below 30 FPS, your hardware may be at its limit. Haste is optimized for older systems, but extremely old laptops may need further compromises.
