Farming and Clearing Efficiently with Scythes and Machetes

Scythe for area harvest

Equip a Scythe and swing at mature crops. The Scythe harvests in an area, so a single swing clears a block of wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, or tall grass around you. Walk a straight line down your field and swing at each column rather than breaking blocks one at a time. Replant as you go, or run a second pass with seeds after the Scythe has cleared the row.

Machete for precise clearing

Use a Machete on leaves, vines, and single plants where you want speed without the wide sweep. The Machete is also your light-combat blade when mobs wander into your farm. Keep it in your offhand or hotbar slot next to the Scythe so you can swap instantly.

Match the tier to the job

Reserve your highest-tier Scythe, such as a Netherite Scythe or a gem Scythe, for your main field where durability matters most. Use a lower-tier Scythe like Flint Scythe or Copper Scythe for casual grass clearing so you do not waste rare materials. Do the same with Machetes: a Diamond Machete or Netherite Machete for combat and heavy clearing, a cheaper Machete for routine leaf trimming. Repair or replace tools before they break so a harvest never stalls mid-row.
