Crafting Gem and Crystal Machetes and Scythes

Gem-tier tools

Beyond metals, the mod adds gem and crystal tools, each as a matched Scythe and Machete pair. These include Ruby Scythe, Ruby Machete, Sapphire Scythe, Sapphire Machete, Peridot Scythe, Peridot Machete, Citrine Scythe, Citrine Machete, Spinel Scythe, Spinel Machete, Kunzite Scythe, Kunzite Machete, Alexandrite Scythe, Alexandrite Machete, Moissanite Scythe, Moissanite Machete, Carbonado Scythe, Carbonado Machete, Corundum Scythe, Corundum Machete, and Diamold Scythe, Diamold Machete.

Crafting them

Each pair uses a crafting_shaped recipe with the gem or crystal as the head and sticks as the handle, following the same Scythe and Machete shapes as the Flint versions. Gather the gem by mining its ore or trading for it, then place it in the head position of the grid.

Picking a gem tier

Gem tools usually sit between iron and diamond in usefulness, with some reaching higher. If you have a choice, craft the Scythe first for farming and the Machete second for clearing. Keep one gem Scythe dedicated to your main crop field so you are not burning durability on incidental grass, and reserve the Machete for leaves and vines. Upgrade to a metal or alloy tier only when you have a reliable supply of that material.
