How to Use Hearts and Reward Bags

Heart Items

Hardcore Questing Mode registers a set of heart items that represent life fractions: Full heart, Three quarters of a heart, Half a heart, Quarter of a heart, and Rotten heart. These are the currency of the mod's life system. A Full heart is a whole unit of life; the quarter, half, and three-quarter variants are partial pieces. Rotten heart is a distinct item and should be treated separately from the clean heart fractions.

Managing Your Life Pool

Your life total is built from these heart items. Losing life removes hearts; gaining life adds them back. When you have partial hearts, they combine toward a full heart. Keep an eye on your current total through the Quest Book interface, which reflects your standing in the hardcore life system. If your life runs out, the run ends, so treat every heart as valuable.

Reward Bags

Reward Bag is the container for quest rewards. When you complete a quest and claim its reward, you receive a Reward Bag rather than the contents directly. Open the Reward Bag to get what is inside. Because the contents are not shown until opened, collect and open bags regularly rather than letting them pile up. Some rewards may include heart items, which feed straight back into your life pool.
