Optimize Performance While Using Halcyon Shaders

Check Your Current Frame Rate

Enable the debug screen (F3) to monitor FPS. Halcyon Shaders is lightweight compared to photorealistic packs, but performance depends on your hardware and render distance.

Reduce Render Distance if Needed

If frames drop below playable levels, lower your render distance in Video Settings. Start at 12 chunks and increase gradually until performance suffers.

Disable Intensive Features

In Shader Options, look for toggles related to:

• Advanced water reflections
• Cloud shadow detail
• Ambient occlusion intensity

Disabling or reducing these can significantly boost FPS while keeping the gentle fantasy aesthetic.

Lower Graphics Settings

Reduce Clouds to "Fancy" instead of "Ultra," set Particles to minimum, and use Biome Blend at lower values. These vanilla settings interact with shader performance.

Test in Different Environments

Performance varies by location. Test in dense forests, over oceans, and in open plains to identify problem areas and adjust accordingly.
