How to Craft Your First Gun (Iron Gun and Gold Gun)

Getting the Materials

Start by gathering iron and gold ingots. Both the Iron Gun and the Gold Gun are made with shaped crafting recipes, so you will need a crafting table. Place your ingots in the pattern the recipe calls for to produce the gun.

The Iron Gun is the entry point for the ammo line. Once you have it, you can move on to the Gold Gun, which uses gold ingots in the same shaped layout.

Loading and Firing

Guns do not fire on their own — you need bullets in your inventory. The basic round is the Iron Bullet, made with a shapeless recipe. Keep a stack of Iron Bullets on you before you head out.

To fire, hold the gun and use it. Each shot consumes one bullet from your inventory. If you run dry, the gun will not fire, so craft bullets in bulk before a fight.

For heavier targets, upgrade your ammo. Flint Bullet, Amethyst Bullet, Prismarine Bullet, Blaze Bullet, Chorus Fruit Bullet, and Explosive Bullet are all available as shapeless recipes. Each one changes what happens on impact, so match the bullet to the job.
