How to Craft Your First Gun (Iron Gun and Bullets)

Getting the Iron Gun

The Iron Gun is the entry point for ranged combat. Craft it with a shaped recipe using iron ingots and a small amount of wood or similar handle material. Once crafted, the Iron Gun sits in your hotbar and fires any bullet type you load.

Making Ammunition

Bullets are the ammo you feed the gun. The Flint Bullet is the cheapest to produce — combine flint with a small amount of gunpowder or a similar propellant in a shapeless recipe. Iron Bullets cost more but hit harder, and are made by swapping flint for iron in the same shapeless pattern.

Load bullets by holding the gun and the matching bullet stack, then firing. Each shot consumes one bullet from your inventory. If you run dry mid-fight, switch to Flint Bullets — they still deal damage and are trivial to restock from gravel.

Storing Ammo

A Bullet Bag holds your spare rounds so they do not clog your hotbar. Craft it early and keep it in your offhand or inventory; drop bullets in and pull them out when reloading. Carry at least a stack of Flint Bullets before exploring, and upgrade to Iron Bullets once your iron supply is stable.
