Getting Tortoise Eggs

Tortoise Eggs come from tortoises. Use a Tortoise Spawn Egg to place tortoises in your world, then collect the Tortoise Egg block they produce. The Tortoise Egg is a placeable block, so set it down where you want it to stay.

Hatching and Raising Tortoises

Place the Tortoise Egg on a solid surface and leave it undisturbed. Once it hatches, you have a live tortoise. Feed and keep tortoises in a fenced area so they stay near their eggs. Use additional Tortoise Spawn Eggs if you want to start with adults directly instead of waiting on eggs.

Collecting Tortoise Scutes

Tortoise Scute is the material drop from tortoises. Gather scutes from your tortoises as they grow. Scutes are the key ingredient for the Tortoise Scute Block.

Crafting the Tortoise Scute Block

Combine Tortoise Scutes at a crafting table to produce a Tortoise Scute Block. This block is a solid building and storage block made entirely from scutes. Build up a stock of scutes from multiple tortoises before crafting, since a single block requires several scutes. Use the block for decoration or as compact storage for your scute supply.
