How to Catch and Store Animals with Buckets and Animal Crates

Bucket Animals

Several animals are caught and carried in buckets. The Bucket of Dumbo Octopus, Bucket of River Turtle, and Quicksand Bucket are all bucket-type items. Use the matching bucket on the animal to pick it up, then carry it to a new location and release it. The Quicksand Bucket works differently: it holds quicksand rather than an animal, letting you place quicksand where you want it.

Using the Animal Crate

The Animal Crate is a block for holding animals. Place the Animal Crate down and use it to contain a captured animal instead of releasing it immediately. This is useful for transporting animals long distances or storing them while you build their enclosure.

Spawn Eggs for Restocking

If you need a specific animal without hunting for it, use its Spawn Egg. Available spawn eggs include Deer, Dumbo Octopus, Fennec Fox, Flamingo, Grizzly Bear, Kiwi, Manatee, Owl, Pelican, Rhino, River Turtle, Seal, Songbird, Tapir, Tortoise, and Toucan. Place the egg to spawn the animal directly.

Combining Methods

Use buckets for small aquatic animals, the Animal Crate for general storage and transport, and spawn eggs to restock empty habitats. Keep a Quicksand Bucket separate from your animal buckets so you do not mix up their contents.
