Go Fish Mod Rods: Full Progression and How to Use Them

Starting Rods

Your first rods are the basic tier. Simple Lure and Soul Lure are lure items you attach to a rod to change what you catch. Frosted Rod, Skeletal Rod, Slime Rod, Matrix Rod, Diamond Reinforced Rod, Rod of Souls, and Celestial Rod are the rod items in the mod.

Equip a rod and cast into water like a vanilla fishing rod. The rod determines the loot table you roll against, so upgrading the rod is how you reach higher-tier fish and crates.

Progression Order

Work upward through the rod tiers as you gather materials from crates and fishing. Lower rods catch common fish such as Oakfish, Lilyfish, Carrot Carp, Bonefish, and Seaweed Eel. Mid rods open up Blackstone Trout, Basalt Bass, Rainy Bass, Snowball Fish, and Slimefish. Higher rods reach Blizzard Bass, Thundering Bass, Magma Cod, Obsidian Halibut, Dragonfish, Ender Eel, Chorus Cod, Nebula Swordfish, Galaxy Starfish, Matrix Fish, and Portal Puffer.

Pair a rod with a lure to bias your catches. Simple Lure is the basic lure, Soul Lure is the soul-themed lure. Swap lures when you are hunting a specific fish instead of rebuilding the rod. Keep a spare rod in a crate at base so a broken or lost rod does not stop a session.
