Smelting and Blasting Ores into Ingots and Nuggets

Furnace Smelting

Put ore blocks into a furnace with fuel to get ingots. Smelting produces Aluminum Ingot, Lead Ingot, Nickel Ingot, Platinum Ingot, Silver Ingot, Tin Ingot, and Zinc Ingot. Each ore type smelts into its matching ingot, so sort your ore before loading the furnace to keep the output clean.

Blasting for Speed

A blast furnace processes the same ores faster than a regular furnace. Use blasting when you have a large haul and want ingots quickly. The input and output are the same as smelting — ore in, matching ingot out — so you can move stacks between the two without changing anything else.

Turning Ingots into Nuggets

Nuggets are the small denomination of each metal: Aluminum Nugget, Copper Nugget, Lead Nugget, Nickel Nugget, Platinum Nugget, Silver Nugget, Tin Nugget, and Zinc Nugget. Craft ingots down into nuggets when you need small amounts for recipes, and craft nuggets back up into ingots when you have accumulated enough. Keep a chest organized by metal type so you can convert in either direction without mixing stacks.
