Feeding the Coke Oven

The coke oven takes coal and produces coke. Two coke types exist in the mod: Bituminous Coal Coke and Lignite Coal Coke. Feed the oven the matching coal input for the coke you want, and let it run. The oven processes slowly, so queue several batches and do other work while it finishes.

Using the Coke

Coke burns hotter and longer than raw coal, making it the better fuel for smelting and blasting your ore into ingots. Load Bituminous Coal Coke or Lignite Coal Coke into your furnace or blast furnace instead of coal when you are processing a large ore haul. This stretches each unit of fuel further across your smelting runs.

Fitting Coke into Your Ore Chain

Run your prospecting and mining first, then convert coal into coke while your ore waits. Once coke is ready, blast the ore into ingots and craft the ingots down into nuggets as needed. Keeping coke stocked means you never stall mid-smelt, and the higher burn value keeps your furnaces running through entire deposit stacks without constant refueling.
