Raising Genetic Chickens and Collecting Eggs

Housing Hens

Place a Chicken Nest for your hens. Adult hens lay eggs, and the egg you get depends on the hen. Possible eggs include White Egg, Brown Egg, Blue Egg, Green Egg, Grey Egg, Dark Brown Egg, Olive Green Egg, and Tinted Egg. Collect eggs from the nest and store them in an Egg Carton to keep them organized.

Hatching Chicks

Eggs can be used to start new chickens. Keep adults fed and breed pairs to produce chicks that inherit shell color and other traits from their parents. Use the Genetic Chicken Spawn Egg if you need a starting bird. Let chicks grow into adults before breeding them.

Cooking and Drops

Chickens drop Raw Chicken when killed. Cook Raw Chicken by smelting, smoking, or campfire cooking to get Cooked Chicken. Cooked Chicken is the safe food item; Raw Chicken is the raw drop. If you want a mixed flock, sort eggs by color in the Egg Carton so you know which hen line each egg came from, then breed the colors you want to keep.
