Feeding and Pairing

Breeding starts with two adult animals of the same species. Feed each one its breeding food so hearts appear, then let them touch. A baby is produced and inherits traits from both parents. Use the Genetic Chicken Spawn Egg, Genetic Cow Spawn Egg, Genetic Pig Spawn Egg, Genetic Sheep Spawn Egg, Genetic Rabbit Spawn Egg, Genetic Llama Spawn Egg, Genetic Mooshroom Spawn Egg, Genetic Turtle Spawn Egg, or Genetic Axolotl Spawn Egg to start a line if you have no adults yet.

Managing the Offspring

Babies grow into adults over time. Keep pairs apart if you want to control which animals breed next, because any two ready adults of the same species can pair. Record parentage with the Debugging Book so you can track which traits pass down. If you want milk from a cow line, keep a bucket ready and breed toward adults that produce a full bucket rather than a partial one.

Practical Setup

Build a pen with a fence and a gate. Place a Chicken Nest inside for hens. Put an Unbound Hay Block nearby as a feed source for cows and sheep. Use a Collar or Bell Collar on a tamed animal to mark it. Breed only the animals whose traits you want to keep, and move the rest out so the next generation comes from your chosen pair.
