Restraining and Leading Animals

Use a Collar or Bell Collar on an animal to mark it as yours and keep track of individuals. To lead an animal, equip a Leather Bridle or Cloth Bridle. These let you control where the animal goes without fences. Place Oak Post, Spruce Post, Birch Post, Jungle Post, Acacia Post, or Dark Oak Post blocks to build tie points and pens that match your build style. A Saddle can be placed on rideable animals so you can mount and steer them.

Building Pens and Feeding Areas

Posts work as fence-like anchors for containing animals and defining pasture edges. Combine them with Unbound Hay Block as a feed source; place it where animals can reach it. For ground cover, Patchy Grass Block and Patchy Mycelium Block let you create worn, grazed-looking terrain inside pens. If you keep turtles, place Turtle Egg blocks in a safe, enclosed area so they are not trampled. Use a Bucket of Axolotl to transport an axolotl between tanks, and a Bucket Of Axolotl Egg to move axolotl eggs without breaking them. Keep collars and bridles in a chest near your pens so you can grab them quickly when moving animals between pastures.
