Cooking Animal Products: Smelting, Smoking, and Campfires
Three Cooking Methods
Animal meat can be cooked three ways: smelting in a furnace, smoking in a smoker, and campfire_cooking on a campfire. All three are supported, so pick based on what you have built. Smoking is the fastest for small batches; a campfire needs no fuel once lit; a furnace is the most flexible if you are already smelting other things.
What You Can Cook
Cooked Chicken and Cooked Rabbit are the cooked meat outputs. Raw chicken and raw rabbit are the inputs. Weak Rabbit Stew is a separate stew result — do not expect it from the same slot as cooked rabbit.
Practical Setup
1. Build a campfire, furnace, or smoker near your pen.
2. Stock raw meat from your chickens and rabbits.
3. Cook in batches and store the results.
If you are processing a lot at once, run the smoker for speed and the furnace in parallel for overflow. A campfire is the cheapest option early on because it needs no fuel beyond its initial crafting.
Pair cooking with your milk and egg production: Egg Carton for eggs, Milk Bottle or milk buckets for dairy, and cooked meat from the same pen. That way one trip to the pen yields food, storage items, and cooking inputs together.
