How to Craft and Use Smart Walls and Regular Walls

Crafting Walls

Most wall blocks are crafted from their base block in a shaped recipe. For example, Cobblestone Wall from Cobblestone, Andesite Wall from Andesite, Diorite Wall from Diorite, Granite Wall from Granite, Brick Wall from Bricks, Stone Brick Wall from Stone Bricks, Mossy Cobblestone Wall from Mossy Cobblestone, Mossy Stone Brick Wall from Mossy Stone Bricks, Nether Brick Wall from Nether Bricks, Red Nether Brick Wall from Red Nether Bricks, Sandstone Wall from Sandstone, Red Sandstone Wall from Red Sandstone, Prismarine Wall from Prismarine, and End Stone Brick Wall from End Stone Bricks. Each also has a (Smart) variant, which is crafted the same way but may have different placement behavior.

Placement and Use

Place walls like fences; they connect to adjacent blocks. Use Smart walls for automatic connection to more block types. Regular walls connect only to solid blocks. Use walls for decorative borders, railings, or enclosures. Blackstone Wall, Polished Blackstone Wall, and Polished Blackstone Brick Wall are crafted from their respective base blocks. Nether Brick Wall and Red Nether Brick Wall are useful in Nether builds. All walls are mined with a pickaxe.
