Crafting Tables, Shelves, and Surface Pieces

Surface Pieces by Wood Type

Each wood type has four table-style pieces and one shelf: Table, Square Table, Pedestal Table, Bedside Table, and Shelf. Acacia Table, Acacia Square Table, Acacia Pedestal Table, Acacia Bedside Table, Acacia Shelf — and the same five for Bamboo, Birch, Cherry, and Crimson.

The four tables differ in footprint and height, not in function. Table is the standard dining or work surface. Square Table is the compact version. Pedestal Table is the single-column decorative table. Bedside Table is the small low table meant to sit next to a bed.

Crafting Order

All five use the furnish:furniture_making recipe type with the matching wood.

1. Craft the Shelf first — it is the cheapest surface piece and gives you wall storage.

2. Craft the Bedside Table for small rooms.

3. Craft the Square Table for compact dining.

4. Craft the Table for a full dining or work surface.

5. Craft the Pedestal Table last for display.

Decorating Surfaces

Once you have surfaces, place small items on them. Book Pile, Chess Board, Plate, and Amphora all sit naturally on a Table or Shelf. A Black Plate on a Black Table with a Black Paper Lamp above it is a complete vignette from three crafts.

Keep one wood type per surface cluster so the grain lines match.
