Crafting Storage: Crates, Cabinets, and Wardrobes

Storage Pieces by Wood Type

Every wood type has three storage blocks: Crate, Cabinet, and Wardrobe. Acacia Crate, Acacia Cabinet, Acacia Wardrobe; Bamboo Crate, Bamboo Cabinet, Bamboo Wardrobe; and the same for Birch, Cherry, and Crimson.

There is also a Kitchen Cabinet in each wood type — Acacia Kitchen Cabinet, Bamboo Kitchen Cabinet, Birch Kitchen Cabinet, Cherry Kitchen Cabinet, Crimson Kitchen Cabinet — which is a separate piece from the plain Cabinet.

Crafting Order

All storage pieces use the furnish:furniture_making recipe type with the matching wood.

1. Craft the Crate first. It is the smallest storage piece and the cheapest to test your wood supply against.

2. Craft the Cabinet next for a taller storage block.

3. Craft the Wardrobe last — it is the largest of the three and the most material-hungry.

4. Add the Kitchen Cabinet separately if you are furnishing a kitchen area; it does not replace the plain Cabinet.

Keep your storage in one wood type per room. A Birch Wardrobe next to an Acacia Cabinet is fine functionally but breaks the visual set.

If you are short on wood, build Crates only and skip Wardrobes until you have a tree farm running. Crates give you the storage slots; Wardrobes give you the look.
