How to Identify Every Ore Block in the Fun Ores Mod

There are twenty-five ore blocks in the mod. Knowing which one you are looking at saves you from mining the wrong thing when you only need one specific drop.

Passive Mob Ores

Bat Ore, Chicken Ore, Cod Ore, Cow Ore, Hoglin Ore, Pig Ore, Pufferfish Ore, Rabbit Ore, Salmon Ore, Sheep Ore and Squid Ore all drop the loot of their named passive mob. Hoglin Ore and Piglin Ore sit in this group visually but drop Nether mob loot.

Hostile Mob Ores

Blaze Ore, Creeper Ore, Enderman Ore, Ghast Ore, Guardian Ore, Magma Cube Ore, Phantom Ore, Piglin Ore, Skeleton Ore, Slime Ore, Spider Ore, Witch Ore, Wither Skeleton Ore and Zombie Ore drop hostile mob loot. Blaze Ore, Ghast Ore and Wither Skeleton Ore are the three that drop shards rather than ordinary loot.

Shard Drops

Blaze Shard, Ender Shard, Ghast Shard, Phantom Membrane Scrap and Wither Skull Shard are the five non-standard drops. If you see a shard in your inventory, it came from Blaze Ore, Enderman Ore, Ghast Ore, Phantom Ore or Wither Skeleton Ore respectively.

Practical Tip

Carry a spare pickaxe and a chest when exploring. When you find an unfamiliar ore, mine one block first and check the drop before committing to the whole vein. That single block tells you exactly which ore you are standing in.
