How to Collect Phantom Membrane Scrap and Wither Skull Shard

Phantom Membrane Scrap and Wither Skull Shard are the two special drops tied to Phantom Ore and Wither Skeleton Ore. They are not the mob's normal loot, so treat them as their own collection goal.

Phantom Membrane Scrap

Mine Phantom Ore and it drops Phantom Membrane Scrap. This is the item you want for anything that would normally need phantom membranes. Store the scrap separately from ordinary Phantom Ore drops so you do not confuse the two.

Wither Skull Shard

Mine Wither Skeleton Ore and it drops Wither Skull Shard. Like the other shards, it is the compact form of the mob's rare drop. Keep every shard you get — they are the reason to seek out Wither Skeleton Ore specifically rather than mining it for coal or bones.

Planning a Shard Run

Bring a pickaxe with good durability and empty inventory slots before you start. Mine Phantom Ore and Wither Skeleton Ore in the same trip if you can find both nearby, and drop the shards straight into an ender chest or a chest at your base. Do not smelt or craft the shards until you know exactly what you need them for, because they are harder to replace than ordinary ore drops.
