How to Get Started with Fossils and Archeology Revival

Find and Extract Fossils

Mine Fossil Blocks and Bio Fossils underground. Fossil Blocks drop Bio Fossils when mined with a pickaxe. You will also find Amber Ore, which drops Amber Chunks, and Ancient Stone deposits that contain Ancient Chests.

Bring everything to an Archeology Workbench. Place a Bio Fossil in the workbench to extract Bones, Skulls, Ribcages, Leg Bones, Arm Bones, Vertebrae, Teeth, Claws, Hooves, Horns, Tusks, Fangs, Fins, Wings, Sails, Shells, Plates, Scleretic Rings, Sac, Antlers, Hands, Feet, Fingers, Boss, and DNA. Each extraction yields random parts.

Build Your Lab

Craft an Analyzer and a Culture Vat. Place DNA into the Analyzer to identify which creature it belongs to. The Analyzer outputs a labeled DNA sample.

Combine the identified DNA with Bio Goo in the Culture Vat. The Culture Vat produces an Embryo. Place the Embryo into an Egg to incubate it. Different creatures require different incubation conditions — some need heat sources nearby, others need specific blocks.

Once the Egg hatches, you get a Spawn Egg for that creature. Use the Spawn Egg on the ground to release the animal.

Feed and Tame

Hatchlings eat specific foods. Use Ancient Fern Spores, Bennettitales Seeds, or raw meat depending on the species. Feed them regularly to grow them to adulthood. Some species can be tamed with repeated feeding and will follow you.

Place Tethered Logs and Scratching Posts for certain creatures to interact with. Build enclosures with Ancient Stone Bricks, Ancient Wood Planks, and Calamites Wood Planks to keep your creatures contained.
