How to Find and Extract Fossils
Locating Fossil Blocks
Fossil blocks generate underground and appear as Calcite Fossil Block or as Bio Fossil. Mine them with any pickaxe and collect the drops. Bio Fossil is the raw organic material; Calcite Fossil Block is the surrounding matrix. Both are needed before you can identify anything.
Cleaning and Identifying
Take your fossil materials to an Archeology Workbench. Place the fossil in the workbench to extract Bio Fossil and Bio Goo. Bio Goo is a byproduct you will use later in the Culture Vat. Once you have Bio Fossil, move to the Analyzer.
Place Bio Fossil into the Analyzer. The Analyzer outputs an identified fossil item — one of the %s Antler, %s Claw, %s Claws, %s Fang, %s Fin, %s Finger, %s Hand, %s Hoof, %s Horn, %s Plates, %s Sail, %s Shell, %s Tooth, %s Tusk, or %s Wing, depending on the species. Each identified fossil corresponds to a specific creature.
From Fossil to Embryo
Bring the identified fossil to the Culture Vat. The Culture Vat consumes the fossil along with Bio Goo to produce an %s Egg. The recipe type is fossil:culture_vat, so the vat must be powered and supplied correctly. Once the %s Egg is produced, you are ready to incubate it — see the hatching guide.
Keep spare Bio Goo. Every culture step consumes it, and you will need more for each additional species you want to revive.
