How to Culture DNA and Hatch Eggs in Fossils and Archeology Revival
From DNA to Embryo
After extracting DNA from a Bio Fossil at the Archeology Workbench, place the DNA into an Analyzer. The Analyzer identifies the species and outputs a labeled DNA sample.
Craft a Culture Vat and place it down. Insert the identified DNA and Bio Goo into the Culture Vat. The vat processes them into an Embryo. Each Embryo corresponds to the species of the DNA you used.
Incubating the Egg
Take the Embryo and combine it with an Egg to create a species-specific Egg. Place the Egg on the ground. The Egg requires specific conditions to hatch:
- Some Eggs need a heat source such as lava or fire nearby.
- Some Eggs need to be placed on specific blocks like Ancient Stone or sand.
- Some Eggs need darkness or light.
Check the Egg periodically. When it hatches, a baby creature spawns. If the Egg does not hatch, adjust the surrounding conditions.
Raising Hatchlings
Baby creatures need food. Feed them Ancient Fern Spores, Bennettitales Seeds, or raw meat depending on the species. Use a Bubble Blower for aquatic species. Place Tethered Logs and Scratching Posts for land species to use.
Aquatic creatures need water enclosures. Use Buckets of Coelacanth, Sturgeon, Alligator Gar, Nautilus, Tiktaalik, Diplocaulus, Crassigyrinus, Henodus, Ichthyosaurus, Plesiosaurus, Megalograptus, Dicranurus, Lonchodomas, Scotoharpes, Walliserops, and Aquilolamna to stock ponds. Feed aquatic hatchlings with Fish Eggs and raw fish.
Once grown, creatures can be bred by feeding two adults their preferred food.
