Using the Larder Box and Handling Rotten Items

The Larder Box

The Larder Box is a storage block crafted with the crafting_shaped recipe that includes a Biodegradable Item. Place it near your kitchen or farm output. Use it to hold bulk food before it goes into an Esky, Icebox, or Freezer. It is a staging container, not a preservation block, so do not expect it to stop spoilage on its own.

Dealing with Rotten Food and Rotted Item

When food spoils, it becomes Rotten Food. The Rotted Item is the related waste item produced by the spoilage system. Both are dead weight in your storage. Pull Rotten Food and Rotted Item out of your Esky, Icebox, Freezer, and Larder Box regularly. Do not leave them mixed with fresh food, or you will lose slots you need.

Spoiled Milk

Spoiled Milk is a separate ruined item. It cannot be restored. Remove it from any container and discard it.

Routine

Run a spoilage sweep every few in-game days: empty Rotten Food, Rotted Item, and Spoiled Milk from all four blocks, then restock the Freezer with fresh food and the Larder Box with incoming harvests.
