Crafting the Freezer

The Freezer is the top preservation block. Craft it using the crafting_shaped recipe that consumes a Biodegradable Item along with the other required ingredients. Place it in your main base where you keep your largest food stockpile.

Loading the Freezer

Open the Freezer and deposit fresh food. Spoilage is slowed the most here compared to the Esky and Icebox, so this is where you store anything you want to keep edible for a long time. Even so, food will eventually become Rotten Food if left long enough. Check the Freezer periodically and clear out Rotten Food and Rotted Item so they do not take up slots.

Managing Spoiled Milk

Spoiled Milk is a ruined item. Do not put it in the Freezer hoping to fix it — it stays spoiled. Remove it and dispose of it. Use the Freezer only for food you still intend to eat.

Esky for travel, Icebox for medium storage, Freezer for long-term storage. Build the Freezer once you have a steady food supply and want to stop losing stacks to rot.
