Adjust Shadow Quality and Performance

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu by pressing the designated key (usually accessed through your video settings or in-game shader menu). Look for shadow-related sliders and toggles.

Configure Shadow Distance

Reduce the shadow render distance if you experience frame rate drops. Lower values decrease the area around you where shadows are calculated, improving performance on medium-tier systems. Increase this value if your hardware can handle it for shadows that extend further across your world.

Toggle Shadow Softness

Adjust the shadow softness slider to control how sharp or blurred shadow edges appear. Higher softness creates more realistic, naturally diffused shadows but costs more performance. Lower values produce crisp, defined shadows with less computational overhead.

Fine-Tune Cascading Shadows

If available, enable or disable cascaded shadow mapping. This technique improves shadow quality at distance but requires more processing power. Disable it on lower-end systems or when performance is your priority.

Test and Save

Load into your world and observe lighting in different areas—near structures, in caves, and at various times of day. Once satisfied, your settings persist across sessions.
