Building a Wildflower Garden

Wildflowers are single-block flowers you can scatter across grass, dirt, and planters.

Choosing Flowers

Good starting picks include African Daisy, Baby Blue Eyes, Bird's Eye Gilia, California Poppy, California Buckwheat, California Sea Thrift, Cosmos, Cosmos Mix, Cinquefoil, and Bachelor Button. Blue Bachelor Button and Blue Bell Bachelor Button give you color variants of the same flower.

Layout

Place flowers in irregular clusters rather than straight lines. Mix heights by combining low growers like Creeping Thyme and Clover Flowers with taller stems such as Gladiola, Crimson Gladiola, Day Lily, and Calla Lily. Use Cosmos Mix where you want several colors from one block.

Ground Cover

Fill gaps with Clover Leaves, Clover Flowers, Beach Grass, Blue Eyed Grass, and Dry Shrub. Add Beach Strawberry and Coastal Lotus near sand. For desert builds, use Desert Paintbrush, Desert Sand Verbena, Desert Sturt Pea, and Devil's Claw.

Containers

Drop a few African Daisy or California Poppy into Acacia Planter, Birch Planter, or Dark Oak Planter to anchor the edges of the garden.
