Inspecting and Debugging a Pipe Network with the Pipe Probe

Why Probe First

The Pipe Probe is the tool for checking a run before and after you load it with items. Use it on every pipe block you place so you catch a bad connection immediately rather than after a chest silently backs up.

Step-by-Step Checks

1. Right-click each Pipe, Rigid Pipe, or Dense Pipe block along the route with the Pipe Probe.

2. Confirm the block reports a connection on the side facing your source and the side facing your destination.

3. Probe any Iron Puller Pipe, Gold Puller Pipe, Diamond Puller Pipe, Ender Puller Pipe, or Netherite Puller Pipe to confirm it is attached to the right container face.

4. Probe White Filtered Pipe and Black Filtered Pipe blocks to confirm they are passing the items you expect.

Fixing Common Breaks

If a segment shows no connection, break that single block and place it again so it re-reads its neighbours. A pipe that touches nothing on one side will not carry anything past that point, no matter how good the rest of the line is.

When several lines cross, swap plain Pipe for stained variants such as Orange Stained Pipe, Lime Stained Pipe, or Purple Stained Pipe so the Pipe Probe results are easy to match to the correct run. Re-probe after every change; a fix in one segment can leave a neighbouring segment unlinked.
