Filtering What a Pipe Carries with Filtered Pipes

Filtered Pipe Basics

White Filtered Pipe and Black Filtered Pipe are the two filter blocks. They sit in a pipe run and control what passes through, letting you split a mixed flow into separate destinations instead of dumping everything into one container.

Building a Filtered Line

1. Run Pipe or Rigid Pipe from your source, such as a Gold Puller Pipe on a chest.

2. Insert a White Filtered Pipe where you want one category of item to branch off.

3. Insert a Black Filtered Pipe where you want the remaining items to continue or be blocked.

4. Continue each branch with Pipe to its own destination container.

5. Check each filter block with the Pipe Probe to confirm items are moving the way you intended.

Practical Layouts

A common pattern is one puller feeding a trunk line, with a White Filtered Pipe dropping a chosen item into a side chest and a Black Filtered Pipe passing everything else further down the line. Add more filtered pipes in series to separate additional item types.

If nothing moves through a filter, verify the pipe on both sides is connected and that the destination container has room. Replace plain Pipe next to a filter with a stained variant like Cyan Stained Pipe or Magenta Stained Pipe if you need to trace which branch is which while debugging.
