Making and Using Shields

Shield Types

ExtraBotany adds three shields: Achilles Shield, Elementium Shield and Manasteel Shield. Each is crafted at a crafting table from its named material plus the usual shield components.

Craft the Manasteel Shield first if you have Manasteel. Upgrade to Elementium Shield when you have Elementium Quartz. Achilles Shield is the premium option and requires rarer materials, so save it for boss fights.

Blocking and Progression

Equip a shield in your offhand and hold right-click to block incoming attacks. The shield reduces or negates damage depending on the type. Achilles Shield offers the strongest protection, Elementium Shield is mid-tier, and Manasteel Shield is the basic version.

Pair a shield with a hammer in your main hand so you can block and counter in the same fight. Against ranged mobs, raise the shield while closing distance, then switch to the hammer for melee. If your shield breaks, craft a replacement from the same material rather than switching types mid-fight. Keep one spare of each shield tier in a chest near your arena so you can re-equip quickly after a death.
